The End of The Monthly Blog Purge

** Big Announcement **

We will no longer have a Monthly Blog Purge on RKIA per multiple requests. I still reserve the right to remove or modify my posts as I wish on a case by case basis and by my own criteria or the suggestions of others.

Kapish? Got it. Good.

  1. For one who falsely accused me of deleting posts because I was hiding evidence or ashamed… two can play the screen shot game

    Hey, Pastor Mike:
    What’s a “Monthly Reset?”

It’s a monthly blog purge of non poetry posts, with a few exceptions. I have a page describing it.

As I say on the page describing it… It’s to keep me fresh and writing new stuff and encourage me to write more poetry/HaiKu that will stick around

No–just realizing I’m going to have to take screenshots from now on–since the person who complains the most about “disappearing comments” is the biggest culprit.

Ah… Disappearing comments are not the same as disappearing posts. And I’m completely open and honest with my resets and the reasons. Nothing nefarious going on at all

All of the comments under the post disappear, too, genius. So–yes–you’re taking away access to multiple comments when you remove your posts.

If I had known that earlier, I would have been taking screenshots all along. But I didn’t realize I needed to do that, considering the way you and the rest of the Congregation complain about censorship All. The. Time.

So, since you don’t mind being honest about your resets: how long ago did you establish “The Reset,” and how do you decide which non-Haiku posts get to stay?

Do you think that saying “I explained fully” means you really did?

The answer you’re too ashamed to admit is: “I pick the posts that I think make me look good, and I save them. But the ones where I come off looking silly get deleted.”

I’ve gone through most of your September posts. There are posts linking back to Wally and posts linking back to CS and linking back to other Christian bloggers. There are random observations about Jesus and prayer and Christian doctrine–way more than just Haikus!–and all of which are still available for the public.

But the posts that you’re ashamed of? THOSE disappeared.

    LOL! You’re a riot.

The purge is not about hiding or getting rid of evidence. I’m not sure how I could convince you, but it looks like you have your mind set counter to what I have clearly explained. It seems useless at this point to continue countering your misunderstanding, intentional or otherwise. Have a great day amanda

I’m just doing what you would do, if your comments started being deleted from a Christian’s blog… 😉

Oh, and I think you forgot to say “have a nice day.” (Which, I totally am. Because this is the most hilarious thing I’ve seen since JZ accidentally shared evidence that Jesus was a historical person. You earned a feature on our next post!)

What do you care about a link? It will be gone in a couple of weeks! HAHAHAHA!

By the way, here’s a post that isn’t poetry:

    And here’s a post that isn’t poetry:

And here’s an old post that isn’t poetry:

So what’s this “method” you have been using, to decide to keep comments you made to Wally and CS but none of the comments you’ve made to my dad and I?

Hmmmmmmmm, this is a mystery. 😉 I’m sure it’s probably just a coin flip.

I really don’t care, KIA. You’ve lost all credibility, which is what happens when someone starts censoring.

I don’t care what excuse you give for it, there’s no good one. I’m not reading your stupid post, because it wasn’t important enough to keep around (until about two seconds ago.)

But something YOU may “enjoy” is the lovely series of speeches that Tildeb made on my blog about censorship. He and I both happen to agree point-for-point on that.

To lose credibility with one such as you who has lost all touch with reality? I’m ok with that. I’ve tried telling you several times that it’s not for censorship or embarrassment. But whatever

  2. You probably won’t like my comment, but I tend to agree with mrsmcmommy. There’s no disputing that it’s YOUR blog to do with as you please. But there could very well be times a person might want to go back to review a particular post/comment and *poof* it’s gone.

I can see deleting really old posts … ones that have been hanging around for 2-3 years (even though I haven’t purged any of mine) … but a monthly purge seems a bit much.

    • I actually like your comment. It gives suggestions and reasons for keeping them around longer. I’ll definitely consider it for the end of October. Best thing is you didn’t try to assign any secretive illuminati type of subterfuge motive behind my monthly reset. I appreciate the suggestion and the manner in which it was given.
As always, I love your wisdom

  3. I think mrsmcmommy got you there KIA. Clearly you’ve engaged in a conspiracy to delete all posts that here and her dad comment on because of her superior debating skills (i.e. repeatedly referring to you as “pastor” Mike – oh so clever wouldn’t you say?) and you’re just too embarrassed to admit it so you have to delete the evidence. Thank goodness she’s keeping all those screen shots.

  4. Exactly. Moreover, those raised to fear authority often exercise the least self-restraint when they find themselves in an unregulated environment. Worse still, they are the most likely to propagate the false notion that blind obedience equates to morality.

And to bring this full circle to her post on slavery, Thomas Jefferson observed:

The whole commerce between master and slave is a perpetual exercise of the most boisterous passions, the most unremitting despotism on the one part, and degrading submissions on the other. Our children see this, and learn to imitate it; for man is an imitative animal. This quality is the germ of all education in him. From his cradle to his grave he is learning to do what he sees others do. If a parent could find no motive either in his philanthropy or his self-love, for restraining the intemperance of passion towards his slave, it should always be a sufficient one that his child is present. But generally it is not sufficient. The parent storms, the child looks on, catches the lineaments of wrath, puts on the same airs in the circle of smaller slaves, gives a loose to his worst of passions, and thus nursed, educated, and daily exercised in tyranny, cannot but be stamped by it with odious peculiarities. The man must be a prodigy who can retain his manners and morals undepraved by such circumstances.
