  1. I wonder why he picked the last definition of religion (i.e. the one that doesn’t mention the worship of deities)?

    Nevertheless:

“Evolution consists of changes in the heritable traits of a population of organisms as successive generations replace one another. It is populations of organisms that evolve, not individual organisms.”(The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, Medicine)

“Biological evolution, simply put, is descent with modification.” (Evolution 101: An introduction to evolution, Berkeley)

Nothing more, nothing less. Belief in (or worship of) deities is entirely optional, but irrelevant to the subject.

    • Thx for the comment, Ron. The reason is fairly obvious, at least to me. The writer of the article chose the definition by rhetorical value for the advantage he wanted. Basic dishonesty and shiftiness

  2. I am quite sure after blogging these guys quite a bit that they know evolution and atheism are not religions like they often claim because it is plainly explained in the dictionary definitions and I give them credit to understand that, however this is the one way they feel that can get a reaction and pay back the atheist trolls.

    • Sorry. Your comment ended up in spam for some reason. I fished it out.
Honestly, I don’t think they really think it thru very much at all. The conflation is pretty common with those who don’t think deeply. The Christians who do, seem to have no issues with evolution or science. It’s just not part of the conversation on faith at all.
It’s the fundamentalist Christians that refuse to think past what they are taught to believe. That’s the real issue with Internet apologetics

  3. I hope you can find time to read this. Consider the idea of father, son and holy spirit as pantheist theology. And consider the use of mystical terminology to explain complex concepts used bu many tribal cultures. Christianity has just simply had it all wrong. Refrain from judgement and read all of it and you will see it all much differently. They simply have a different understanding of God than Christ did. When he was speaking of Truth he meant it quite literally, not in some mystical sense. https://jesuschristprovenright.wordpress.com/2016/09/20/theproof/
